I still have the nostalgia of playing with my band on the stage…banging my head and acting like crazy like no-one cares.
This is me. The real me I guess, I was born to entertain. I enjoy when people appreciate what I did, whatever it is. Back in college I was a member of a band, we called it the Winged Icon, I don’t know why, we just liked the illustration I made of a nude diabolic woman with wings. Then the Winged Icon was born back in 1998. We did really good back then. We were friends back in highschool and were influenced by the OPM band era, specially the eraserheads. It was back then when they called people like us as adik,”mukhang mabaho” etc… simply because they don’t undestand.
We had a manager back then, we called him Ka Boy, but he preffered to be called Boy Mary, because where he was born was lots of “boy” and they call each “boy” BOY plus the name of their mother…the name Boy Mary actually sounds gay but we really love the man. He was the coolest 40 (plus) year old man we have met.
We played OPM songs on the start of our band days and eventually shifted to new wave music, we have played with many “big names” in music, one was Kamikaze back when they were not yet super famous , and i remember that the one playing the guitars back then was Chito Miranda of Parokya Ni Edgar. We also played with the Dawn. I myself have various gigs with other bands, I played as front act of Free stylle back then. I really love to reminisce these days. Those were the coolest days of my life.
I remember going to school in all black, One time I grew my super curly hair, but most often Skin head, I remember going to school on a skirt, on a “taong grasa look” wearing necklace made of stupid things. I still remember joining the prestigious MetroPop. I still remember how I was back then. We have played in various clubs in Manila and Bulacan, we can make it big, we all know that, but first things should come first. Most of us in the Band are scholars and came from a poor family so we have to prioritize our studies. Now, ( from left to right) Slowhand is a Licensed ECE, Teves is an IT specialist, Hakob is licensed Architect, Red is now Almost a Dentist and me a licensed ECE.
Two of my former bandmates ( from my other side-bands) are still living the life of a musician, Aries, the drummer of Kenyo, and Yapi, the lead singer of bluewish, both are now recording artists, is there a regret in my decision? yes there is, but I have to live with it, because I’m still happy now, with agreat job as an engineer and still doing and Loving music, still enjoying art, still living my life to the fullest.

Me, on an Acoustic night on Burias Island Bar
Music never ends with me. Then till now …I will rock till the day I die.
I saw a foil on the table just this evening, wrapped inside it is pancit… a very dry pancit..I was not interested on the pancit, but the foil wrapper..It will make a good art medium….

A couple of twists and crumplings plus a lot of imagination should give you something like this………

BASURERO

BASURERO
I used an old CD for the stand and double sided tape to position the figure. Maybe next time you’ll think again before throwing foil wrappers. An aluminum foil may take 200-500 years to be completely disintegrated, better turn it to art so that the next ..next…next generation can see it, than to let it be an earth pollutant…I don’t like foils covering my dead body in the future….
Next time you throw..Think…
Last vacation, the Holidays I mean, I had a movie marathon. I always do this during my free time to visit my province which is Bulacan, it’s quite different now, the usual is that my mother is sleeping, with the four of us ( me and my siblings) sitting on the floor, watching the movies we bought from “kuya” with lots of snacks in front of us. Now, my mother is still sleeping..but there is only three of us, my other sister ( May) got married last December 23 and relocated to Unisan,Quezon ( where the most recent film shown on big screen is the TEN COMMANDMENTS and RAMBO 1…joke).
My sister chose Band Slam, a recent American C hick Flick ( which fits mia’s personality, she was a kikay writer for Candy Mag. and still receives special projects, see her article this March.), Lee chose UFC ,I don’t need to explain why,I personally chose the ” Law Abiding Citizen” dvd and I didn’t regret it..
It is a story of revenge by a husband to the criminals who killed his family and eventually to the attorneys and everyone involved to the plea made to release one of his family’s killer. The story is filled with twists that made me think for a while, then it made me enjoy the way he killed those m@#$er f!&Kers… I was really carried away by the emotion of wanting to kill…that is only for a while… I don’t usually feel that way to movies, that is why I think you should watch this movie. Talkin about Art of Killing…..you’ll see why when you watch it.
The Killer/Husband( Clyde Shelton) was played by Gerard Butler
The Attorney ( Nick Rice) was played by Jamie Foxx.
